Apple iPhone 7 Reportedly Hissing #HissGate?
The new Apple iPhone 7 has been in the hands of consumers for almost 2 weeks now and users are reporting a strange hissing sound coming from the back of the phone (both iPhone 7 & 7 Plus).
This hissing sound seem to only effect a handful of iPhones but none the less, the problem still exists. The sound becomes louder under heavy load such as playing a 4K video or playing a game.
According to some reports, the sound may get worse when it's laid flat on a table.
The source of the strange hissing sound is still not confirmed, but the general consensus is that what you're hearing is "coil-whine" which is common for high end computers and chips. If that's the case then the problem would point to dampening issues for the phones internals.
Is this a huge problem? Not at all.
If you're out and about and enjoying your day you probably won't notice the hissing sound. But sitting alone in a quiet room while watching a video in 4K or playing your favorite game? You'd probably hear it. Would it be bothersome? That's up to you.
Now I've got good news and bad news.
The good news is that your phone won't explode like the Samsung Note 7's have and that if you do happen to have a hissing iPhone then you can get it replaced via Apple Care.
The bad news is that supplies right now are extremely tight, seeing as the phone was just released. So getting a replacement iPhone 7 may not be as easy as walking into an Apple store and walking out with a replacement. Chances are you'll have to wait a week or two for them to ship you a replacement.
